They are among the greatest champions in French skiing: Tessa Worley, from Le Grand Bornand, quadruple Alpine skiing world champion (Giant and Team Event), and Martin Fourcade, world biathlon n°1 for the past 6 years – and both exceptionally together for the magic of the event.
Tessa WORLEY: Martin, what’s your state of mind going into the 2017/18 season?
Martin FOURCADE: A bit like past seasons: I don’t have much to defend but everything to play for. I always look ahead without really looking back. I just know that the drive to progress is as strong as ever and the ambition to win is even more so.
T.W.: Especially with the upcoming Olympic season with a World Cup on home turf…
M.F.: Having already had this experience in 2013 makes me more comfortable with these events. The World Cup leg in Annecy-Le Grand-Bornand will really kick the season off and being in front of a home crowd gives us real determination that the whole French team shares. Real determination and expectation from our supporters too…
T.W.: Now you mention it, what do you think about the energy and track for the World Cup leg in Annecy-Le Grand- Bornand?
M.F.: Until 2013, our fans had never or rarely had the chance to see us in competition. After it was up to us to free ourselves up from this expectation so we could just enjoy ourselves. We’ll get even more support too and this leg in Le Grand-Bornand is even less neutral as the site is very unique in the heart of the resort.
