Another great atmosphere, this Sunday, December 22nd, for this last day of competition. Despite difficult conditions, the biathletes were able to offer a quality show to a large audience during these mass-starts. 20,000 people were still present today. Their encouragements carried the biathletes to their limits.
At the beginning of the afternoon, a Franco-Norwegian duel took place on the track. While Johannes Boe flew over the race from start to finish, the battle was fierce behind, between Frenchman Emilien Jacquelin and Johannes’ brother, Tarjei. In the top 5, we find Quentin Fillon-Maillet, very good the whole week, and Martin Fourcade. Without a doubt, the public is no stranger to these performances !
Among the girls, Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff won once again after winning the sprint and the pursuit earlier this week. She was inspired by her compatriot Johannes Boe. She was untouchable all along the race. With a great second place, Italian Dorothea Wierer took the yellow bib. Swedish Linn Persson completes the podium. Anaïs Bescond ranked seventh.
Biathlon was well celebrated, this week, in Le Grand-Bornand. See you next year !
