The chosen French venue for the Biathlon World Cup, having already successfully hosted six rounds in 2013, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2024, marked by growing media and popular success, Annecy-Le Grand-Bornand, already the most popular stage on the circuit, has undoubtedly confirmed its status as the ‘darling’ event of the ‘biathlon family’ this weekend.

…BEHIND THE BLUES IN FORCE!
With nearly 67,000 fans (including 3,600 schoolchildren, middle schoolers and high schoolers invited by the Haute-Savoie Department and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region) gathered since Thursday at the Sylvie Becaert International Stadium, the Bornandine stage managed to equal its attendance record set in 2024. This success was praised by World Cup Director Borut Nunar, who thanked the Annecy-Le Grand-Bornand Organising Committee for this ‘absolutely fantastic event’.
It must be said that the French team, carried by a crowd galvanised by the stakes in this Olympic season, with their sights set on the Milan event from 6 to 22 February, more than lived up to expectations with, of course, Lou Jeanmonnot‘s victory in Saturday’s pursuit and two other podium finishes, including one shared with Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, who came third in Sunday’s mass start.
In the men’s event, Emilien Jacquelin was in inspired form, delighting the crowd with two hard-fought podium finishes in Friday’s sprint (3rd) and Saturday’s pursuit (2nd), before Eric Perrot took 2nd place in the mass start… Not to mention the ‘sensation’ Camille Bened, the revelation of the season, and her fourth place finish in an epic mass start.
These seven podium places are in addition to the 23 won in Le Grand-Bornand since 2013 by the French team, who are in fine form.
